Dutch By Design: Slow Wood

Slow Wood. Furniture to make your heart sing.

Created by designer Christien Starkenburg, Slow Wood's ethos is centred on living along side nature. Based in Fryslan, each piece is beautifully handcrafted in solid wood using 100% natural finishes and mineral paints. I think I'm in love.

Mun No.15. The perfect workspace.

The stripped back simplicity of the Mun collection is what makes them such show-stoppers. Each piece relates to each other allowing you to group them within your space or focus on a single item. A splash of colour connects them to your home decor.
The mineral pigments used on the wood are all natural and some, true to Slow Wood's name, can take up to a week to dry.

Mun No.2

Mun No.9

It's a slow, loving production process as is emphasised with the new Grut collection:

"Enjoy your slow food, work, having slow conversations and sharing happiness with these pure tables."

Grut No.1

Grut No.3

Warm, earthy and tactile. Absolute perfection. Christien, you're one clever lady.
