Scandinavian Style: The Day Home Collection

Last week I was thrilled to be invited by Sandra from danish design agency Icons of Denmark to view the Day Birger Home S/S2013 collection. Launched some five years previously and joining an already hugely successful fashion line, Day Home has been a bit of a secret here in the UK, but they're working hard to change that with some top boutiques and stores (Liberty included) beginning to stock a beautiful selection of soft furnishings, glassware, tableware and lighting.

Head designer of Day Home and one half of the Birger/Mikkelsen team Marianne Brandi was inspired by her travels around India for the new collection, something undeniably evident within the intricate stitching and beading on the cushions. The rich colour combinations combined with natural fabrics such as silk, cotton and linen create a feel of ethnic luxe meets Scandinavian style.

The collection also includes a gorgeous array of block colour velvet cushions and throws-one of my personal favourites.

For more of an everyday look and one that appeals most to Scandinavian shoppers there's a range of monochromatic designs, from the the Half Moon in silk (I wanted to take this one home with me) to the natural prints inspired by nature.

Day Home also produce classic pieces of furniture & lighting. I absolutely loved this chair!

What I love most about this collection is the sheer number of fabrics, colours and styles there is to choose from. It's all of a very high quality, beautifully made and tactile. I wish the Day Birger team huge success for 2013 and would like to thank Sandra again for making me welcome.

You can expect to see the Spring/Summer designs in February but in the meantime you can shop the Autumn range online which is equally as gorgeous in shades of jade green, dark olive, burnt orange and berry red.
